Kisapmata and Batch ’81, two films by Mike De Leon, one of the greatest new generation Filipino directors, and a close associate of Lino Brocka, are released in France on March 29, 2023.
The release of these films accompanies the Blue-ray reissue by Carlotta Films of eight of Mike De Leon’s feature films, complete with short films and an 80-page booklet written by critic and historian Charles Tesson.
Kisapmata and Batch ’81 were screened at the last edition of the festival as part of the complete retrospective Mike De Leon: A Life in (Moving) Pictures
In the Eye of the 3 Continents
On the occasion, Jérôme Baron, the artistic director of the Festival des 3 Continents, evokes the work of the Filipino director who has always paid particular attention to the “indomitable youth” of his country in a new video available in French “Dans l’Œil des 3 Continents”.
