In 2018 the Festival des 3 Continents celebrated its 40th anniversary by highlighting past achievements in order to nourish reflection about the future of festivals, films and their distribution. In a similar manner, the Produire au Sud program will this year celebrate its 20th anniversary, using the occasion as an opportunity to reflect both upon the history of the workshop and also its future position within a changing and dynamic industry. The provision of training and professional networking opportunities for young producers is indeed critical if they are to successfully establish an identity and a place for themselves within the increasingly competitive field of international coproduction.
PAS anniversary celebrations will take place within the framework of the 43rd edition of the Festival des 3 Continents and will consist of three distinct but complementary components that will provide opportunities for exchange with the public and between professionals, allowing both festival-goers and the industry to better understand the factors that have shaped and guided Produire au Sud since its inception in 2000:
– a retrospective of some 20 films that have participated in Produire au Sud and have been completed since 2000
– meetings with Produire au Sud alumni – producers and directors from Africa, Asia and Latin America
– round-tables and panels on the theme of international coproduction involving international industry partners and training professionals.
