Yasujiro Ozu · 120 Years
12/12/1903 – 12/12/1963
The cinema of Yasujiro Ozu was discovered very late in France at the end of the 1970s, even though the Japanese director died in 1963. That’s just over 60 years ago.
Ozu is not Japan’s favourite filmmaker, but he is the one who best represents them in his constant precision.
Jérôme Baron, artistic director of the Festival des 3 Continents, talks to us about this essential filmmaker and his paradoxes (video in French).
