Born in Lisbon, Aisha Rahim is a programmer and film critic. A graduate of art schools, journalism and cinema, her professional career has run parallel to her love of the martial arts and meditation.
Initially a critic for the weekly newspaper Sol, published in Portugal and Portuguese-speaking African countries, she ran its film section for four years. As assistant director to documentary filmmaker Rui Simões, she developed documentary projects and also distributed films on the alternative circuit. She subsequently collaborated with the Indie Lisboa festival and the Doc’s Kingdom International Documentary Film Seminar, took part in the Berlinale Talent Press, and wrote for various publications.
In 2016, with the retrospective ‘About Africa and Portugal: memories, destinies and representations‘, she inaugurated her work as a programmer at the Festival des 3 Continents.
