With 93, la belle rebelle, Jean-Pierre Thorn draws an urban and musical map of the Seine-Saint-Denis département through the ages, telling us another history of the 93. A de-industrialised territory, successively built on and demolished, which finally welcomes massive urban development, the Seine-Saint-Denis is here depicted through the artistic and political wealth of the musical counter-cultures it has seen arise, be it the punk of Bérurier Noir or the rap de NTM. Using TV archives and accounts, the film develops the voices of the artists, which he contrasts with the dominant discourses. LL
