Doctor Nam has two daughters and, before dying, confides to his elder Jeong-hui (Choi Eun-hee) his wish that she marry the artist Dong-su. But the doctor has piled-up debts and to honour them, his children risk losing the family home. A young doctor, Sun-cheol, who had been able to continue his studies thanks to Nam’s generosity, offers to sell his own house to help Jeong-hui and her sister. He loves Jeong-hui but, aware of the recommendations Nam had made to his daughter the day before he died, cannot confess his feelings. Driven to seek the love of other men to replace their father’s protection, the young women of A Sister’s Garden discover, as if in an echo of Nam’s wishes, that their fate remains dependent on the decisions of men.
