The countryside, a farm, dawn, a departure, that of the father, the head of the family, the commander, leaving his wife, his daughter and an adopted son, who promises to return the same evening. Night falls, the wait lasts, an arrival, not the expected father’s, but that of the other daughter, a student in town – the wait becomes worrying, even anxiety, fear, anguish.
As the days and weeks go by, everyone gets used to the absence: some accept it, deal with it, make the most of it, exploit it… Relationships are formed, others fall apart. Relationships are forged, others break down. Clans are formed or disintegrate, hitherto hidden conflicts are revealed, the interests at stake being land, money and power.
Then a second dawn, an unexpected return and tragedy…
