In Leja, a desolate region of southern Syria, a young orphan girl who lives with her uncle wants to escape the man’s grip. She gets married to run away from the house and be free, but soon realises that freedom remains out of reach. Her husband leaves her. Left by herself she meets the village schoolteacher. She falls in love with him and they decide to elope. Their freedom is short-lived as the woman is caught by the Police sent on her tail by her family.
