The day that Amorina (played by the famous tango dancer, Tita Merello) discovers that her husband (played by Hugo del Carril) is seeing another woman, she tries to end her days and very nearly dies. Facing up to the solitude that already plagued her life, she attempts to escape the role of victim and regain control of her existence, even if this means paying a painful price. Hugo del Carril does not give himself the hero’s role in his tenth feature, adapted from the eponymous work of Eduardo Borrás, who had scripted his previous films, but this seems to be so that he can better probe the meanderings of Amorina’s soul.
