Alicia, the amnesic wife of Ignacio, a Mexican doctor who came to Brazil to attend a conference, is roaming the streets of Rio. Her bracelet is stolen by Rosa, a prostitute who is then killed by El Muñeco. The man takes Alicia to lois cabaret and calls her “Nelly”. In the meantime, while desperately looking for his wife, Ignacio finds Rosa’s disfigured body wearing Alicia’s bracelet. Thinking his wife is dead, he goes back. to Mexico. El Muñeco turns Alicia into his mistress and forces her to dance at the cabaret. Another criminal, El Piraña, gets very interested in Alicia and takes her away with him. One night, three Mexican aviators go the cabaret and one of them, Felipe, recognises the woman. In Mexico, Ignacio gets married to Julia, Alicia’s sister who looks afterher niece. Felipe brings them the news. In Rio, Alicia who now lives with El Piraña, becomes a great success at the “Copacabana” cabaret. Julia and Ignacio find the two together but Alicia doesn’t recognise her husband, and nor her sister. But when she sees her daughter, Alicia passes out. On regaining consciousness, she forgets everything about her adventure in Rio.
