Elena spent the first eighteen years of her happy life with her parents in Chihuahua where she has studied dancing until the day when, coming back from school, she finds out that her mother has run away with a family friend and that her father has committed suicide. She then goes to Ciudad ]uarez, on the Mexican/US border, to find ajob. After many vain attempts, Lucio, a friend of hers, makes her drunk in a cabaret and hands her over to Rosaura, a brothel owner. Rosaura drugs Elena and gets her raped so that she can keep her as a prostitute. But one day in the cabaret, she meets the man who seduced her mother and hits him with a bottle. Rosaura then sends her lame and dumb hitman El Rengo to disfigure her.
