Marina marries a widower in his forties who owns a small property on the São Paulo coast. Her new life proves disappointing: her husband drinks and she finds herself the object of the local men’s desires. She only finds comfort in little Chico whose grandmother performs macumba. A sailor falls in love with Marina and it’s love at first sight for her too. With the help of macumba, Marina manages to escape from her predicament and freely live her love.
