Joris Lachaise’s camera, accompanied by the writer-filmmaker Khady Sylla, takes us on a visit to the psychiatric hospital of Thiaroye on the outskirts of Dakar. Through Sylla’s personal experience of mental illness and her treatments, the film seeks to explore the recent history of Senegal: the country’s independence and the decolonisation of psychiatry.
