John, a financial journalist, has lived in Hong Kong for fifteen years. Secretly in love with Vivian, he throws himself heart and soul into his passion when he finds out he has only six months to live. Vivian came to Hong Kong from China ten years ago. To pay for her lover’s studies, she used to work as an escort. Today, she owns a karaoke bar but her one obsession is to marry Chang.
A rising star in the business world, Chang hesitates to legitimate a socially embarrassing relationship and incites Vivian to leave Hong Kong with John. The countdown of Hong Kong’s return to China compels John to film the last months of a Hong Kong he feels will disappear. During his odyssey, he meets Jean, a young Hong Kong woman whose yearning for life fascinates him. Each of these characters will meet and their fate will be intertwined in an ebullient city.
