Don Andres, the last heir of the wealthy Avalos family, feels that his 58 years of life have been wasted on reading and a sear- ch for the reason for existence. When he contracts a 17-year-old peasant girl to care for his senile grandmother, don Andres feels shame but can’t control the powerful desire he feels for the girl.
