In Bombay, “Dharavi” is the largest slum in Asia consisting mainly of immigrants looking for a better living. It started as a small colony ofTamil immigrants who set up a number of tanneries and it has become one of the leading small scale industrial setups. Rajkaran Yadav, an immigrant from a North Indian village, dreams of making it big. Married and father of a boy, he is a taxi driver but he would love to own a factory. To make this dream corne true, he gets involved with the ruthless underworld and takes possession of an improvised tin shed he calls a factory. Rajakaran’s mother arrives from the village to stay with her son and his wife, Kumud. Kumud is torn between her husband’s ambitions and those of her activist brother. To add to her dilemma, her ex-husband returns to the city in desperate need of support after a stroke. Rajkaran’s makeshift factory is demolished by the city authorities. He takes refuge in drink and his fantasy world where the popular Hindi film heroin Madhuri tells him that he is the best…
