A revolutionary priest is denounced by a man who had previously protected him. Hounded and stripped of his clerical status, he tries to flee from an oppressive, hostile world and, in so doing, abandons his faithful believers. But he succeeds in overcoming his weakness and regains his diginity by accepting to honor his responsibilities until death.
