Modesto de Souza runs a theatre which is about to go bankrupt. After a long period of hesitation, he accepts his daughter’s idea: she wants to stage a musical, with the help of some members of the theatre, to get the theatre out of its financial crisis. But the manager’s secretary wants to run the theatre himself and does everything he can to turn the musical into a failure…
