Although one of the most successful Bombay film-makers, Suresh Sinha leads a dull and boring life. Bina, his wife, thinks his occupation is vulgar. She prefers to return to her parents’ home. He joins her in Delhi to talk, but she refuses to meet him. Sinha happens to help Shanti, a young woman he recently met, with a screen test. She gets the role against the producer’s advice. The film is a huge success and the young actress becomes famous. Sinha falls in love with her, but she gets away from him, lured by the pleasures of wealth and fame.
