A nomadic tribe in South-East Iran, on the verge of extinction, is renowned for weaving gabbehs… On a river bank an old woman washing a gabbeh seems to be conversing with the fabulous carpet. We hear the story of how one of the last gab- behs was woven by a young girl called Gabbeh. The motifs of the carpet relate her own love story. In the face of her family’s refusai to let her be with the man she loves, Gabbeh never takes her eyes off her lover during the long journey she makes on foot with the tribe. He follows on horseback from a distance, over mountains and a cross rivers, through wind and snow…
