Grigris has a paralysed leg, but when he performs his dance routine in a N’Djamena nightclub, he sparks the admiration of all. Being half-French, Mimi wears an Afro wig to hide her straight hair; she wants to become a model but in the meantime works as a prostitute to survive. In the murkiness of the night, outcast by society, their bodies meet and recognise each other. Yet, to save his critically ill uncle, Grigris decides to work for petrol traffickers… Starting with documentary material, Mahamat-Saleh Haroun brings out a film-noir style with splendid night-time sequences, and shows through this love story with an almost mythological ending, the moral of Chadian society today.
