Perrone returns to colour and chooses European painting as the material space for his story and a field of experimentation. The setting: paintings by Manet, Monet, Renoir, still landscapes in the open air. These are the spaces through which the characters move: two men, two women, two hunters, two ominous creatures. Hierba limits its story to brief episodes about desire and violence as the motors of human actions. To this symbolic universe, Perrone adds some classical music pieces, rock songs and some electronic cumbia motifs, though the film’s actual musicality comes mainly from sounds of the surrounding nature.
