The quiet little town of Ejibo is about to receive financial aid from the government. Reverend Father Michael is invited to join the local committee in charge of the funds and the execution of the subsidized projects. 50,000 naira represents a lot of money to the Ejibo community and they expect it to bring progress, peace, and happier lives. Instead, they find themselves confronted with a sinister plot of robbery and murder. The situation is far beyond anything they have ever experienced ; their laws and measures of security are ineffective. Father Michael is torn between loyalty to his faith and the state when a young criminal confesses to murdering the town council clerk.
