By giving us access to Ann Hui under different circumstances (on-set, in the intimacy of her flat, her production company’s offices…) and through successive touches, Keep Rolling composes the portrait of a filmmaker who is often reluctant to talk about her work, except to be its first critic. Access to what she has to say is indeed almost as rare as the possibility to see her films on French screens and this retrospective will at least bring her closer to us by associating her films’ screenings with Man Lim Chung’s documentary and incidentally show that she is still at work on an oeuvre that is to be continued.
