M. Hekmati is a new teacher in a school in the south of Teheran. His pupils are unruly and, one day he is forced to expel one oft hem. The following day, the boy’s sister,’Atefeh, comes to the school and, mistaking Hekmati for the headmaster, protests the expulsion. Another boy spreads rumors that Hekmati and Atefeh are having a love affair. While trying to set the record straight, Hekmati suddenly discovers that he really is in love with her.
Meanwhile, Aqa Rahim, the local butcher, has lent Atefeh’s family a house and hopes to marry her. ‘Atefeh is forced to choose between her love for Hekmati and her gratitude towards Aqa Rahim.
