L’Épouvantail

A fish farmer tries to protect himself from the greed of two shameless and gluttonous birds, who plunder the fruits of his labour. He builds a scarecrow which is mocked by the birds. But will they have the last word? In this film, Hu Jinqing combines the “flowers and birds” style with his magnificent wisteria and the representation of the people on blue-green backgrounds, recalling the noble silk painting of the Tang (600-900 AC).
