Lena, a little white girl and Ningo, a little black boy serving at Lena’s parents house, grow together in the colonial Mozambique. Only the childhood’s innocence will allow this friendship to remain indestructible when the storms of the historical changes fall over them.
Twenty years later (1976), in Maputo, Ningo receives a telephone call from Lena’s mother asking his help to find Lena who has disappeared in Lisbon. In the Lisbon house where Lena lived, Ningo reads the letters she had written and understands that Lena, the rebel girl who challenged the values of the society where she lived, turned into a lonely woman. Ningo find where Lena is kept and goes to find her.
