El Negro and Mabel live in a poor, filthy suburb of aLatin-American city. El Negro forces Mabel to be a prostitute, but she resists. Even after he bas had to kill an aggressive customer, he still keeps giving Mabel to other men. Mabel seeks help from “the Man who speaks of God”. El Negro meets another street girl and tries to get both girls to work for him, in spite of Mabel’s fury. Mabel falls into a kind of religions dementia. El Negro is sent to jail where he hears that “the Man who speaks of God” has managed to get both girls to work for him.
