The Request

A poor young man is in love with Parwin, a young upper-class woman. One day, he goes into a jewellery shop, chooses a necklace and a ring and slips them inside a female customer’s pocket. When the woman walks away from the shop, he catches up with her and threatens to denounce her as a thief. As she doesn’t understand what’s happening and gets scared, she gives him the jewels. A few days later, he goes to Parwin’s and asks her father for her hand while giving the jewels as a present. Parwin’s mother comes in: she was the customer in the shop. The man is unmasked and thrown out.
