La forteresse cachée
(Kakushi Toride No San-Akunin)

In the 16th century, during the civil war, two poor peasants try to go home. On their way, they discover a piece of gold in a tree and think they are on the trail of the defeated Akizuki clan’s treasure. But they are caught unawares by general Rokurota Makabe. An Akizuki survivor, he is to protect princess Yuki, the clan’s heiress, and her treasure. Makabe decides he will use the peasants’ naivety and greediness so that they accompany them, but says nothing of his secret.
