They arrive in tens of thousands from all over Central America. Migrants travelling across Mexico with America as their only goal. They crowd together here, wait there, set off again, speak about who they are, reaffirm their determination, reveal their fears. Juan Manuel Sepúlveda, the man with the patient camera, constructs his film’s trajectory out of a medley of stories, and shows the permanence of the migrants’ terrible situation, in which violence fuels the elusive American dream – the dream that is always beyond the frontier.
