Zulmira is obsessed with death and wants a luxury funeral to compensate for her miserable life. She prepares to die, often visits the funeral home, believes she has tuberculosis, although healthy, and ends up really ill. She urges her husband to extort money for a first-class funeral from her former lover, the richest man in town. When she dies, he manages to get the money, orders a very modest funeral and during the funeral takes the rest of the money to the Maracana stadium to watch a soccer match.
