The baby of Juana and her husband, Quino, a humble fisherman, is bitten by a scorpion. The doctor refuses to treat him, because he hates poor Indians. But he loves pearls. Quino dives to the bottom of the ocean in search of pearls. He finds a large pearl and is attacked by two mercenaries who try to steal it.
