Yukinojo is a famous Kabuki artist, known for bis interpretations of women’s roles. During a performance at Edo, he recognizes, in the audience, the judge and the two merchants who had been formerly responsible for the ruin and suicide of his parents. In order to carry out his plan for revenge, he uses the judge’s daughter, who has fallen in love with him. His plans are alternatively thwarted and helped by the scheming thieves who have infested the city. The actor manages to escape safely and leaves his enemies to kill each other off.
