Life without principle
(Dyut meng gam)

by Johnnie TO

panther-defends-himself

In parallel, we follow the story of bank teller Teresa, small-time fraudster Panther and the honest police inspector Cheung. Three characters who have nothing in common, until their relationship to money – and a mysterious bag containing five million stolen dollars – pushes them into making some crucial decisions.

At the outset of the film, the filmmaker very subtly moves away from the genre film only to come back to it with ease and finesse. The film weaves together the character’s actions and the problems that ensue, and visits world events through the prism of Hong Kong, where speculation and fast profit are alienating society as a whole.
