War crually affects Tolgonai’s family: her husband and sons died in the fighting. Her favourite daughter-in-law also dies but Tologonai refuses to bow down to fate. To perpetuate things, she starts a conversation with her late husband’s portrait and teaches her grandson how to till the earth.
