After a victorious campaign in 15th-century Japan, Washizu and Miki get lost in a forest. The Fate predicts their future which unfolds under their frightened eyes. Washizu’s wife, Asaji, incites him to kill the lord of the castle to take his place. The comes Mii’s turn. Remorse haunts the lordly couple whose heir dies at birth. Rebellion is growing in the community. Asaji sinks into madness. Washizu dies, riddled with arrows like a ludicrous porcupine.
