Three women, three different generations : Hazina, the mother, Fahima, the daughter, and Farhana, the grand-daughter, are confronted with the difficulties of life and the weight of traditions. Mostafa, the son who had been forced to leave the country, returns twenty years later. The story takes place from 1933 to 1953 in a little village in Northern Egypt : Karnak near Luxor, a village whose combined pharaonic, copt and moslem traditions create an oppressive social climate.
