This is not a story, but the depiction of the everyday life of a boy lama and the people around him in Tibet. No dramatic events are taking place. The film is like a live show of ordinary people. To maximize such reality, long takes on a fixed camera and long shots are used. The Tibet lamas as well as the village people are local villagers. The theatrical actors are real Tibetan opera singers. The most dramatic part of the story without a beginning or an end is probably when the camera catches the boy lama’s childishness. Dressed in his red garment, he is wearing a monkey mask, holding his favourite TV series CD box to his chest. The life of a lama in the mountainous Tibetan village could seem somewhat unfamiliar at first. But in the end, the people in the village are not so much different from any of us.
