First-Year Pupils

An Iranian primary school in the mid-eighties. As soon as pupils have a fight, t h ey are sent to the headmaster who questions them so that they acknowledge responsibility for what they did. We follow the procession of pupils who made a commotion, fought or insulted each other. They go through a somewhat similar ritual (questioning, confessing, repenting), alternating with another very ritualised moment — the fifteen minutes of morning gymnastics.
