A guilt-ridden, now middle-aged doctor travels back in time and space to the scene of his youthful folly. Twenty years after, his mission is to make amends for his act of betrayal caused by circumstances beyond his control. He learns that his beloved of yesteryears (who he had left pregnant) was married off to an old man, who subsequently died. Amamath sets out in search of his child and finally manages to locate her… in a brothel. After the initial shock, he decides to ‘adopt’ his own daughter and give her a new life. Kajli is somewhat puzzled with his attitude, but she goes along with his plan. She reveals her deep-seated hatred of the doctor who abandoned her mother. Amamath, hurt to the core, takes the abuses as punishment he well deserves and bides his times before revealing his identity to her. Meanwhile, Kajili finds herself drawn to his affectionate and understanding nature. So when he finally tells her the truth, she is faced with a dilemma: should she stay locked in the past or depart her mountain-home for a new, respectable life?
