Macabea, a young country girl, arrives in a big city where she tries to fit in, to understand ans survive. Macabea’s story has nothing unusual about it, but traces the daily existence of an ordinary woman who feels, loves and thinks – most of the time in a void. Macabea takes no initiative. She lives in reaction to Gloria, Olimpico, Carlota, Monsieur Raimundo ans her room-mate.
