Six years after giving up secular life, the young Buddhist monk Beobwun continues his wanderings around the country without finding his hoped-for spiritual fulfilment. On one of this bus journeys, he lends a helping hand to Jisan, an apostate monk interrogated by the military. Jisan and Beobwun travel on together. Jisan, who always has a bottle of alcohol to hand and a deadly poison pill around his neck, intrigues his young companion. Gradually, he begins to understand his travelling companion’s unusual character. After repeated separations and meetings, the two men settle down together in a small isolated temple in the mountains…
