Don't Look Back
(Dokomademo ikô)

by Akihiko SHIOTA

Two boys, Akira and Kouichi, always hang out as a pair but are put into separate classes for the new school year at their elementary school. They are a notorious pair at school, and that’s why Akira’s classmate, Kinoshita, is always trying to hang out with them. On their way home from school, Akira, Kouichi and Kinoshita bump into a group of junior high school students. They start to pick on a fight and Kouichi stands against them. Akira tries to cover him, but they both end up running away. After losing the junior high school students, Akira and Kouichi have a good laugh about it.

One day when Akira and Kinoshita are at the park, they meet their classmate Nomura. Nomura is the type that people wouldn’t notice at school. Akira and Kinoshita decide to go to Nomura’s house. His mother is happy to see friends of her son and serves them food. Akira sees some plastic models that Nomura made and is stunned by their quality. He is shocked to find a true talent among his schoolmates.
