Israel is a herbalist in the centre of the capital city. With an old friend, Matilde, he has built a huge model which is a replica of the ancient Tenochtitlan and he hopes to sell it to solve his financial problems. Israël meets Clara Zamudio, a health inspector, and seduces her. After two months, they decide to leave their respective spouses and to live together, but their relationship is ruled by jealousy and a sense of guilt and quickly becomes smothering. Israël ends up beating Clara; she sets the model on fire. Its destruction puts  an end to their love life. Clara leaves Israel for another lover.
