Pierce, thirtyish, clever and rebellious, works in the family dry-cleaning business after being fired by the factory where he worked. His elder brother, Wendell, a lawyer and hallmark of the family’s success is getting ready to marry a doctor’s daughter, also a lawyer. Between the two brothers is Soldier, Pierce’s childhood friend, who has just been released from jail. Charles Burnett’s fourth film and second feature, My Brother’s Wedding, is a vision that covers all aspects of a film (he is screenwriter, editor and producer) that is able to flirt with satire on the social classes in the black ghetto, while remaining mindful of the inner conflicts and their slightest nuances, from one character to another.
