The Central African director Rafiki films his friends during their studies at the University of Bangui and reveals lives full of desires and disillusion, frustration and anger. The songs he sings, albeit quite softly, set the vengeful tone: enough stealing, hand over to us! The students are imprisoned by a society ruled by their elders, by corruption and arbitrariness, and professors who reserve the female students for themselves. Scenes of intimacy open up the film to the questions of love, difficult for other reasons. Each of the students leaves his mark on this multiple portrait filmed through the prism of friendship – until this is darkened by the clouds of a despair too heavy to bear. FM
