Itauguá Guazú, a village left at the roadside. Juan de Dios, 55, craftsman and Guarani poet has never left this place or the mother that he has just lost. During the nine days of prayer for the death, hopes and frustrations of an austere existence resurface while Juan plans to join his sister in Buenos Aires. This fiction sewn into a whole by a tenuous narrative thread, that never hides the mainly documentary substance that feeds i : reluctant to any dramatic explanation. Here, the actors play themselves, hauling from one shot to another, the tragedy of their own lives : the misfortune of not having left to look for a better life elsewhere. It is the truth of this contradiction that Enrique Collar emigrating from paintings to cinema, literally caresses by the eye. The film carries the deep attachment of a community to its land but also that of a world indifferent to prayers and the heart of men. JB
