Obsession
(Fengkuang de dai jia)

by Zhou XIAOWEN

Qingqing and Lanlan are two sisters whose divorced parents have abandoned them, leaving Qingqing to raise her younger sister. Qingqing learns to become strong and independent. Lanlan remains naive and carefree until one evening, on her way home from school, she is raped. Qingqing is deeply disturbed and withdraws into silence. To avenge her sister, Qingqing sets out on a desperate search for the rapist. She borrows a camera from her boyfriend, Li Changwei, and takes photographs of suspects so that Lanlan can identify them, but to no avail. During the summer vacations, Lanlan, who works at Changwei’s bookshop, recognizes the man who raped her among the customers. Qingqing sets off in pursuit of the suspect, who is also wanted by the police. The rapist, Sun Dasheng, points a pistol at Qingqing and forces her to climb to the top of a building. The police intervene at this point, dragging Sun Dasheng’s brother away as a hostage. Just as the police want to capture Sun Dahheng, Qingqing kicks him over the building. Qingqing in turn becomes a criminal…
