Tepulpaï and Naïra, two young Indians from the Andes Mountains, set off in pursuit of Pachamama, the totem protecting their village and stolen by the Incas. For that purpose, they need to travel to Cuzco, the capital, where they meet the sovereign but also the recently landed conquistadors. During the story’s many twists and turns, they also follow an inner journey, much like a story of apprenticeship: the restless Tepulpaï will learn humility, the gift of oneself and respect for others; the wise Naïra will need to overcome her fears and find her independence.
